- I hate working in a warehouse reddit. Gonna say right now I have the opposite view of small/big companies. I used to be so much more anxious going to work but I've gotten to a point after 10 years where I just can put on an act and go about my day at work. Depends on the company and how someone is complaining. I can't sleep because I know tomorrow I'm going to drive to work to quit. Costco is a different beast, i got a job there, because my mom works at an awesome warehouse, she works hard but has a great worklife balance. I truly LOVED working here until the past 2 weeks. The majority of people who work on those stocker/packer jobs aren't there because they love stocking boxes. 6 months in now the monotony is really getting to me and I hate going in every day. I hate going to work as a teacher. I hate to break it to you but we got plenty of psychology majors here. I know I have posted about this before and people told me to apply for supply chain roles but when I apply for them I never hear back. I really don't want to work these warehouse jobs or driver jobs. I hate working overnights. You’re not allowed to have your phone on you at all, even in your pocket. Don't be afraid to use the bathroom, unless you plan on screwing around. I’ve worked a 3 warehouse like jobs and 70% of the women either get the easiest jobs like putting labels, working on computers or basically the easiest position imaginable. I have worked at a warehouse for almost ten years now and I feel trapped. But for the most part I don't really have to answer to anybody and is there to anybody and everyone was chill but I was depressed because I felt It has been my bread and butter for many years and I hope it will continue to be. I'm 32, started warehouse work 5 years ago and bought my first home just before i turned 30. I worked as a teacher and d2d sales and I didn't make much money so I decided to switch my career path, and I've been working on warehouse work for 2 months, yeah I know almost everybody who has functioning limbs can do it, I do love packaging, picking, sorting but I wonder if I can get career on it. Me, i worked am merch, working in 85 degree temperatures, working the heaviest product area, while also being dropped 30 plus pallets per each 5 hour shift. I'm the same way. He has a lot of skills from working at UPS he could use in a different environment. Warehouse in my area has really struggled to get decent raises because upper management says we make more money than other people who do the same job at other companies. I hate the ware house environment and wished I could work a office job or the one I went to school for but didn't finish. Theres a lot of jobs you can work less than 20hrs and make similar money. I would be happy with 30-32 hour work weeks, and overtime pay after that. Plus, I think one of them infected me with COVID without warning and I feel like there’s a toxic work environment at that specific Walmart. This PA has totally ruined any future potential I see with Amazon and has made me super upset and dread showing up because of her constant attacks towards me. I like my current job now. To be honest it's all going to depend on who your working with Scenario 1 you work with shitty people with bad attitudes because they are working in a warehouse. I like to wear ear buds because I work in a noisy environment (it warehouse, but I generally work on one bench). The insurance kicks in after like 1 week of work and it's top of the line insurance. Otherwise, if you need specific days off that are not regular days off, you need to find people to work your shifts. If you find the right type of work, you won't hate it. I already feel exhausted coming home from work, I wake up at 6AM and don’t come home until 4:10PM after the commute/lunch. I’m still working with them but I want to apply elsewhere. Upper management treats us like fucking children, communication is piss poor, and we have the same dogshit (joke intended) customers. Good days, you might work 9hr shifts. We work everyday. I work 11-hour shifts (10 hours of work with 1 hour long lunch break) I only work 3-4 days a week. And I get why others hate the place as a whole. It's bad enough dealing with customer complaints about food like for example "they found onions or 1 pickle in their burger" and it's the end of the world.
